Spring Break - a trip to the park

On Thursday of our week off I decided to stroll over to our neighborhood park with the three kids. Bella was in the jogger stroller, Mark was on his scooter, Lizzy on her bike. Fifteen minutes later, we arrived at the park. The kids had a great time playing there. We don't make it there often enough. Then we strolled home. Kind of a boring post, I know, but leaving out the various meltdowns during the walk, and me carrying Mark's scooter home when he wouldn't ride it, it was an uneventful trip. Fun, simple, and free, the way more family activities should be!

SPRING BREAK

THE KIDS ARE OFF THIS WEEK FOR SPRING BREAK. I AM DOCUMENTING WITH PICTURES OF ALL THAT WE ARE DOING AND WILL POST OVER THE WEEKEND ABOUT OUR WEEK. IT HAS BEEN FUN SO FAR, THIS IS THE BEST DAY SO FAR AS IT IS 9:25 AND ALL THREE KIDS ARE STILL ASLEEP! WHICH IS WHY I AM BLOGGING! I WOULD BE STILL SLEEPING IF IT WASN'T FOR RASCAL THAT WOKE ME UP AT 7 A.M. I THINK I WILL GO CLEAN OUT MY TUPPERWARE CABINET NOW!!!

One more on Liz's gymnastics...

o.k. be patient, one last post on Lizzy's gymnastics.

She had her last meet two weeks ago, Chinese New Year. She got a 36.1 all around, her first 36! She looked great and seemed to be having a lot of fun. The meet was at 8 a.m. which is a challenge for all of us to be out of the house by 7:15! I put her to bed at 8:30, I think the earliest she has ever gone to bed, she was asleep by 9:45, which is good for my night owl! She had a great meet, vault was her first event and she did a good vault, 9.475 I think. You can see from the picture she had a perfectly straight body. From there she had a great meet, highest score ever on bars and the first time she didn't take a huge step on her dismount. My mom made it up for the meet, which was fun too. At the awards she was 4th all around I think. The team got second place and Lizzy got chosen from the 22 kids to hold the team trophy and take it home for the weekend. That is a big honor and a first for her. After the awards the gym owner approached her and told her she would start training with the 5's the next week at practice. She was excited. She has been practiceing 5 for over a week now and seems to not be intimidated, she is the second youngest with, Rebecca, the youngest who has a birthday two weeks after Lizzy. She is one of the bigger girls, as she is so tall for her age. I am proud of her as I watch her practice with the 5's. She seems to love the challenge as she certainly has not mastered many of the 5 skills. Go Lizzy, go!

Markie Boy

Markie got his book order from school the other day and tonight he finally asked me to read him the books. It is a set on insects. Right before we began he found the sunglasses he is wearing in our kitchen, and decided he liked them so much he wore them through the reading of all the books and even to bed. Markie is just so cute, he gets so into being read to when it is a book he is interested in. SO far this year he has loved this one Pokeman book we have, a book on The Incredible Hulk, and a Spiderman book. He is learning to read, but much prefers me to read to him. It really helps calm him down for bedtime. The thing about Markie is he gets so excited for little things, it is so fun to be a part of his excitement. He is very different from Lizzy in that way, she never really showed that enthusiasm over the little things in kindergarten like Markie does. Anyways, as I read each book to Markie he intently hung on my every word with his pajama shorts and his sunglasses on and nothing else. He brought each book over individually after I read one, he'd bring the next. He would get a little stressed if he thought I skipped a page and would have me go back. It is these little things I write about here that I hope I remember someday when Markie is no longer Markie, but Mark, a teenager, or Mark, a grown man. I love you Markie!
